Description: The Project Officer supports the development and implementation of Hivos-led carbon finance projects. These projects are part of the Green Society programme (Renewable Energy and Sustainable Food) of Hivos and registered by the Gold Standard Foundation.
Responsibilities: The Project Officer facilitates the monitoring and verification of emission reductions, and supports the development of other benefits of domestic biogas and clean cook stoves projects. In collaboration with more senior staff you are responsible for the marketing of carbon credits to buyers on the international voluntary market. This responsibility also entails the communication activities of the carbon finance unit.
The Project Officer works in close liaison with colleagues of the Green Society programme at Hivos Head Office and Regional hubs in Africa, South East Asia and Latin America.
Qualifications: You have an affinity with the Hivos’s vision and mission and are driven by a strong motivation to contribute to real and lasting change. We do not expect succesfull experience in carbon finance but you need to have a strong interest in developing the necessary knowledge in this domain. As Project Officer carbon finance you are an accurate, results driven person with outstanding skills to interpret quantitative data. You are able to effectively develop and manage relations with a variety of stakeholders, in both Europe and beyond. You have strong financial and business skills. You have great personal communication and marketing skills.
You have a degree in Business Administration or related field and 3 years working experience. You are fluent in English and preferably Spanish. Work experience in an international environment is a pre, as is experience in marketing or sales.
