Position Title: Outreach Intern

Location: Annapolis, Maryland

Dates and compensation: The internship position is available for the fall semester (August-November), and is able to be shortened or extended as needed depending on the candidate. Ideally this opportunity would begin on August 1st. This internship is unpaid, but travel expenses from the Annapolis office to Coalition events will be reimbursed. The internship is based in the Coalition office, housed in the National Wildlife Federation Mid-Atlantic Regional Center in Annapolis. Some aspects of this opportunity can be performed from a remote location. Internships can be arranged for 10-20 hours per week, with flexible scheduling.

Description: The Maryland Climate Coalition came together in 2010 to bring offshore wind energy to Maryland. The offshore wind campaign illustrated a bold vision for Maryland’s cleaner and healthier energy future that inspired and energized thousands of citizens from across the state and captured the national spotlight. Comprised of national, regional, state, and local advocacy organizations, the Maryland Climate Coalition is committed to advancing policies that reduce greenhouse gas emissions and engaging diverse audiences in the demand for urgent action by decision-makers to support of innovative and effective solutions.

Responsibilities: In this internship, you will have the opportunity to help advance clean energy and climate solutions in Maryland. The Coalition’s current focus is passing 2016 legislation to renew Maryland’s Greenhouse Gas Reduction Act and increase Maryland’s use of clean energy.

Responsibilities include: Assisting Coalition staff and members with public outreach and educational events, helping reach out to Coalition members’ bases through phone banks, helping support press events and generate earned media, and representing the Coalition at tabling events throughout the state.
