Sustainable Urban Enterprise Fellowship at Smart Cities Advisors
Posted by: Smart Cities Advisors
Description
Smart Cities Advisors is a knowledge and investment enterprise whose mission is to promote socially inclusive, environmentally sustainable and commercially viable community builders and urban regeneration in developing country cities. Our forthcoming portal, Developing Smart Cities, is an online networking and knowledge platform aimed at the professionals, enterprises, NGOs, academia and cities who are building the next generation of rapid growth cities for all.
In support of Developing Smart Cities, SCA has launched a fellowship to identify and nurture new leaders in urban social enterprise. This fellowship offers training and career development for enthusiastic, committed young professionals. Outstanding fellows may be selected to fill key roles within our organization, conditional upon funding and successful completion of the fellowship.
This full-time fellowship in our entrepreneurial organization exposes the fellow to significant responsibility working side by side with the organization’s founder. As an early stage venture, this is a challenging but exciting work environment with tremendous opportunities for growth, personal achievement and network building.
The ideal fellow will be engaged in the following activities:
– Project management through active participation in strategy, decision-making and implementation of online and offline initiatives
– Content generation through independent research and writing on themes in the built environment in the developing world, as well as sourcing materials from our partners
– Partnership development and collaborations to nurture and expand Developing Smart Cities’ network and initiatives, both on and off line
– Fundraising to drive the portal as well as offline activities as part of its mission and mandate
Fellowship Requirements:
1. Ideally, an academic degree at no less than masters’ level in a relevant field (architecture, urban planning, real estate, finance/business, construction management, preservation, building sciences, engineering, etc)
2. Keen interest in inclusion and sustainability in cities, communities, buildings and infrastructure, potentially through past employment, education or independent study
3. LEED APs or willingness/ability to obtain the certification or similar credential
4. Familiarity with one or more major developing country markets
5. Foreign language skills (Spanish, Portuguese, etc.) most welcome
6. Technical knowledge of design, construction, real estate, materials or technology desirable
We value enthusiasm, persistence, resilience, maturity and communication skills in fellowship candidates. Although there is no stipend, SCA will support professional development opportunities as appropriate to skills and background. This fellowship requires a minimum six month commitment. Candidates will be considered on a rolling basis until filled.
