Description
Wildlife Associates is seeking an experienced Educator / Wildlife handler who excels in teaching children and working hands-on with a wide range of non-releasable wildlife. Responsibilities include animal husbandry, training and enrichment and being a part of our educational team. Our nature of science school assembly program has a rich 30 year history of teaching 300,000 students and adults in the greater San Francisco Bay Area each year. The position also assists with our experiential living science programs for at-risk youth and our professional development courses for elementary school teachers.
Must be positive, motivated, flexible, experienced, adaptable and an energetic professional with strong interpersonal skills and a desire to work as part of a dedicated team that is making positive changes in the community. Strong public speaking, communication and teaching skills (especially with children) are essential.
This is not an entry level position. We ask that only qualified applicants apply. A college degree and at least 2 years paid direct experience in the field is required, three or more years of experience is preferred. Physical requirements: ability to lift up to 50 pounds, and have the ability to work both indoors and outdoors while maintaining wildlife habitats. Valid driver’s license with an acceptable safety record and a background check is required.
This is a full-time position with salary depending on experience. The benefits package includes medical, dental and vacation.
