Description

Climate Interactive is an organization that creates, shares, and uses credible models, accessible simulations, and related media in order to improve the way leaders and citizens around the world think about the climate. Our purpose is to get these sims and insights into the world as accessible products so they can be tweaked, enhanced, translated, distributed, and used to power change around the world. Our C-ROADS simulation is currently being used in the US State Department, China, and at UNFCCC meetings. Climate Interactive is a project of the New Venture Fund, a 501(c)(3) organization registered in the United States.

Climate Interactive is seeking an Intern who can work ~20 hours a week to assist with media, administrative, and research tasks.

Key responsibilities of this position include:

• Able to quickly master new technology systems
• Competent at video and image editing would a plus
• Experienced in system dynamics, systems thinking, and organizational learning would be a plus

The internship will run for 6 months with a 30 day review period, to ensure an adequate fit for both Climate Interactive and the Intern. There will be two stages to the six month internship – a three month period of intensive training under our Project Specialist, and then a period of working more independently for the remaining three months.

The Intern will work on CI staff as a contractor to CI, not a W-2 employee. Compensation for the internship will be $15/hour. The Intern will provide his/her computer equipment and software.

CI has no central physical office (its 6 person staff is spread across Vermont, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, South Carolina, and North Carolina, with its fiscal home in Washington DC), so the Intern will be able to work from whatever setting she or he prefers, although the Intern must be local to the Asheville, NC region and able to attend meetings as needed.

This position offers the chance to contribute significantly to the mission of the organization.
