The Green Core Company program is seeking interns to help advance our mission of developing regional business commitment and implementation of environmental and social sustainability using the triple-bottom-line methodology of people, planet, and profits. The ideal candidate would be interested in learning how to implement environmentally sustainable practices in a business setting.

This internship is unpaid. But available for class credit within your college guidelines.

Activities:

> Research how implementing “green” policies would affect a business’s “bottom line” and writing or updating current policies to reflect such.
> Researching and implementing physical actions to a business’s infrastructure according to the published standards.
> Creating training materials and other documentation to create a “culture of sustainability” within a business.
> Working with the business staff and leadership to develop procedures to document adherence to the standards.
> Creating templates to measure performance criteria for a baseline and annual reporting.
> Educating both staff and the public about green business policies and our efforts in general.
> Provide weekly summary of activity reports and record of hours contributed.

Requirements:

> Provide own transportation to and from business locations in CNY – every attempt will be made to coordinate intern with a business accessible by various transportation modalities such as bus, bicycle and walking distance if intern does not have a car available.
> All interns must sign the SBDC Conflict of Interest and Standards of Conduct statements.
> Work directly with a business one-on-one and on-site.
> Ability to write effectively; Comfortable researching; Comfortable asking questions
> Provide regular updates and summaries of accomplishments and hours contributed to business.
> Interest in learning about and/or commitment to sustainability

Time frame: Ongoing

Hours per week: Varies according to business needs and intern availability; generally 3-7 hours weekly would be encouraged, though an intern would work directly with a member business to decide this together, or consideration would be based upon academic requirement needs of the students
