This position is located in the Office of Research and Development, National Center for Environmental Assessment, Quantitative Risk Methods Group, Arlington, VA.

At the full performance level, you will:

– Develop innovative quantitative methods for environmental assessments and apply them; identify areas where new methods or tools for risk assessment would significantly improve the analysis and translation of existing fundamental science for application in risk assessment.
– Develop assessments of environmental pollutants and collaborate with other scientists to support the best application of environmental and biological science in quantitative risk assessments.
– Provide expert advice to supervisors, managers, and various agencies on quantitative issues in risk assessments; review draft risk assessments and other draft products.
– Identify scientific research to improve specific assessments of environmental pollutants or polluted sites; manage extramural work to conduct such research and otherwise support the development of risk assessments.

At the lower grade level, your assignments may be less complex and/or you may need more guidance from your supervisor.

You will spend less than 25% of your work time on contracts.
