Description
A unique multi-faceted position within the Lewis & Clark Law School’s Environmental & Natural Resources Law Program, frequently ranked #1 in the United States. The Assistant Director works with the Director and the Natural Resources Law Faculty to provide the best possible environmental and natural resources law programs. This position oversees a portfolio of interesting assignments including international LL.M. and visitor programs, the Environmental Law Summer School, an annual conference (with one scheduled for 2012 in India) and the Distinguished Environmental Graduate program. The international LL.M. program provides the opportunity to teach an introductory course to international lawyers. With the Director, the Assistant Director also advises students and potential students, and markets the program to the outside world.

QUALIFICATIONS:
- JD degree from an ABA-accredited law school plus three years of legal or policy experience in the environmental/natural resources law field.
- Knowledge of major environmental law issues and career options.
- Strong legal and non-legal writing and editing, organizational, and public speaking skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills including the ability to deal courteously, professionally and effectively with potential and current LL.M and JD students, faculty, practitioners, judges, international students, scholars and visitors, and other professionals in the environmental field.
- Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint), Internet, email and social media skills
- Public relations and marketing skills.
- Experience with or knowledge of budgeting and budget tracking.
- Ability to work effectively and collegially with shared program assistant and other law school staff.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Web site or e-newsletter development experience.
- Conference or CLE development and management experience.
- Knowledge of cross-cultural communication, a second language, or experience with living abroad.
- Teaching, training or tutoring experience.
- Grant writing and fundraising experience a plus.
