Job Description: We are currently seeking an Environmental Engineer to work in our Environment, Health and Economics Division, Air Quality Engineering Group. Candidate will provide technical program support for government and commercial clients including the U.S. EPA’s OAQPS Sector Policies and Programs Division (SPPD) and Climate Change Division (CCD).

Responsibilities

  • Information gathering and data analysis
  • Technical and regulatory writing
  • Develop emissions inventories for hazardous air pollutants and greenhouse gases (GHGs).
  • Evaluate compliance with domestic and international environmental rules.
  • Assess performance and costs of air pollution control equipment and emissions monitoring methods.
  • Identify and evaluate options for reducing GHG emissions from industrial sources.

Qualifications

  • BS in Chemical or Environmental Engineering or technical discipline (related engineering or science degree)
  • 0-3 years related project experience
  • Strong interest in air quality and climate change (GHG) issues
  • Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills
  • Computer spreadsheet and database skills (particularly Excel and Access)
  • Flexibility to work collaboratively as part of a project team.
  • To qualify, applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States and should not require now, or in the future, sponsorship for employment visa status.


Preference will be given to candidates with knowledge/experience within one or more of the following areas:

  • Electric utilities, combustion and energy
  • Petroleum refineries and/or chemical industries
  • Metals or minerals manufacturing (such as Iron and Steel or Portland cement)
  • GHG and climate change
