Summary:
The Green Urbanism Department of Global Green USA is offering an internship for graduate students interested in urban planning as it relates to neighborhood scale sustainable practices for affordable mixed-use development. Applicants should have experience with general urban planning issues including urban design, green building, and affordable housing development. Interns will gain experience with the practical application of sustainable urban planning theory through the LEED ND rating system and learn how local governments, developers, and community members may be impacted by this, the first rating system of its kind. This hands-on experience will support both organizational and individual development.
Eligibility: Must be a graduate student interested in sustainability, specifically urban planning, building science, environmental policy & planning or other related areas. Applicants without a working knowledge of both AutoCAD and ArcGIS (9.3 or10) need not apply.
Requirements: Positive attitude. The ideal applicant should have excellent writing and communication skills, the ability to work independently and collaboratively, take initiative on tasks, and pay close attention to detail. ArcGIS, Adobe Suite, SketchUp, and AutoCAD experience is preferred. Applicants must be locally based in Los Angeles.

Compensation: Academic credit is available. There is no monetary compensation or housing provided by Global Green in relation to these positions. Please work out academic credit details with your academic institution.
Time Commitment: Must commit to at least 10 hours a week for a period of 6 months, at least 2 days a week. Exact hours to be determined with intern and academic institution.
