Summary:

The Center for Urban Community Services, a national leader in the development of effective housing and service initiatives for homeless people, invites applications for a Assistant Program Director position at the Hegeman, a newly constructed 161 unit permanent supportive housing residence located in Brooklyn, for low income tenants, many of whom will have histories of mental illness, homelessness, and substance abuse. The building is expected to receive a LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Safety Design) rating and will include a 24/7 attended lobby, a community garden, a computer room, and a fitness room.

CUCS will provide comprehensive on-site social services using a recovery orientation, which will include the implementation of evidence based practices such as Supported Employment and Wellness Self Management. The building is scheduled to open in March 2012 with an anticipated start date of January 2012 for the Assistant Program Director.

Responsibilities: The Assistant Program Director will assist the Program Director in overseeing the new program implementation. This will include participating in regular development team meetings, recruiting staff, planning for the implementation of CUCS policies at the site, helping to develop new policies as necessary, and working in conjunction with CUCS’ Central Intake Department to screen and select residents for the program, etc. Once the building opens, the Assistant Program Director will continue to work closely with the Program Director and has the primary responsibility for supervision and oversight of the site’s special services programs including: onsite psychiatric and medical services, tenant services and per diem staff. Additionally, this individual will be responsible for maintaining good relations with funders and stakeholders, and developing and maintaining a program culture that is person centered, outcome oriented and dedicated to continuous quality improvement.

Requirements: LCSW and at least 4 years of post-masters related experience including supervisory experience. Strong writing and computer skills required.
