Hours and Compensation:

Hours to be determined, preferably at least 20 hours per week. Flexible around holidays, and start and end dates to be determined based on candidates’ school schedule. This position is unpaid, but we are happy to work with schools to obtain academic credit where possible.

Decription

The Buildings Campaign Intern will be responsible for planning and executing campaign tactics with the goal of advancing energy efficiency policies at the local, state, and national level. These tactics include but are not limited to:

-Organizing district meetings with key legislators to provide a venue for constituents to voice their support for efficiency policies

-Writing and placing opinion pieces and earned media in major media outlets

-Facilitating grassroots advocacy in support of efficiency policies, and/or

-Lobbying legislators and other decision makers directly

 

Specifically, the candidate will be responsible for providing support for campaigns to promote stronger building codes at the municipal level, state-level policies promoting green building practices, and national-level policies promoting financing programs for efficiency retrofits.

Qualifications

-Excellent communication skills, both written and in-person

-Knowledge of the political process; knowledge of regional environmental and climate laws a plus.

-Strong academic skills, and a willingness to learn and try new things
