Description

Research Interns are integral members of the Climate and Energy team at Worldwatch. Research Interns will be assigned to one or more of the following projects:

  • Sustainable Energy Roadmaps: Building sustainable energy development strategies for low-income countries and regions, including the Dominican Republic, Jamaica, Haiti, Central America, India, and West Africa.
  • Innovations in Renewable Energy Access and Financing
  • Natural Gas and Sustainable Energy Initiative: Exploring the challenges and opportunities that natural gas presents to a low-carbon economy.
  • Trans-Atlantic Climate and Energy Partnerships
  • Climate Change and Low-Carbon Development Education: Designing curricula for university-level students on climate change and low-carbon development.

Responsibilities will include: researching and compiling information; drafting and editing material for research briefs and reports; authoring occasional articles for the Worldwatch blog ReVolt; and providing additional administrative support to team as required (small portion of intern’s time).

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Outstanding writing and communication skills
  • Ability to self-manage and stay organized while maintaining multiple assignments and deadlines
  • Demonstrated experience in and passion for climate and energy issues—and for the importance of accurate information and analysis to guide environmental decision-making
  • Demonstrated ability to synthesize complex sets of data
  • High level of proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, including Word, Excel, Outlook and Powerpoint; WordPress
  • Strong academic and/or work background in energy policy and/or technologies, international environmental governance, and/or sustainable development highly preferred
  • Fluency or high level of proficiency in Spanish or French highly preferred
  • Experience with a range of social media tools highly preferred
  • Project management experience highly preferred
  • Creativity, attention to detail, and sense of humor
