Kline Commons houses the main campus dining room and Parkhurst Management Offices and the facility was newly renovated this summer! Meals are also available in the Down the Road Café in the Bertelsmann Campus Center and Manor House Café at Ward Manor. Resident students MUST be on a meal plan. Meal plan selections are done prior to the semester, so be on the lookout for an email to get signed up! No changes can be made to your meal plan after the first two weeks of the semester. First-year students are required to be on a 19-meal plan or Anytime Access plan for the fall semester. Upperclassmen are eligible to change their meal plans based on residence hall to a variety of meal plan options including block plans. Second semester freshmen may only change to a 265-block plan in the Spring. With the meal plan, students receive Bard Bucks each semester that may be used for purchases at Down the Road Café and Manor House Café, when the board plan is in session. Students also have the option of opening a FLEX account, which acts like a debit card to be used for purchases outside of the board plan at any of the dining outlets. Students using flex accounts are given a discount on their purchases, in the form of tax savings! Flex accounts cannot replace a meal plan.Flex accounts are managed by the Student Accounts Office and you can add money by visiting the following link: https://www.bard.edu/studentaccounts/selfservice/
Students interested in dining accommodations or meal plan waivers based on disability and/or medical needs, must register with the Disability Access Services office and provide supporting documentation to be reviewed. Accommodations are decided on a case-by-case basis and are highly individualized, dependent on a student’s disability, current functional limitations, and environmental barriers. To begin the process, please complete the Disability Registration Form and provide disability documentation to [email protected]. See Documentation Guidelines and additional information on the Disability Access Services website. Please direct questions about dining accommodations and meal plan waivers to Disability Access Services ([email protected]). Disability Access Services works closely with Dining to coordinate all dining accommodations. Meal Plan Waivers are reviewed throughout the year, but if a request is made after the start of the semester, students may have to wait until the following academic semester for the meal plan waiver to take effect (and they will still be billed). If approved prior to the start of the semester, students may be refunded based on prorated time. Based on the documented disability and/or medical need, as outlined in the documentation, a meal plan waiver may be approved on a one semester, one academic year, or permanent basis. If approved on a provisional basis (one semester or one academic year), a student will need to submit updated documentation before the above-listed deadlines. Meal plan waivers are based on disability or medical needs where restrictions are such that Dining cannot appropriately accommodate.
All students, except those on the Anytime Access Plan, have the opportunity to use a meal swipe as a “Meal Equivalency'' swipe at Down The Road Cafe. This meal exchange will include an entree, side, drink, and dessert from a set menu up until 10PM. You may swipe for ONE “meal equivalency” at DTR per meal period. There are three meal periods at DTR. Late night will be from 10:00 PM to Midnight at Down The Road Cafe, with all your favorites!
Students with particular dietary needs or preferences should consult with the General Manager and Executive Chef from Parkhurst Dining; reasonable requests will be accommodated. Special requests for religious holidays should be discussed in advance. Students are expected to maintain proper decorum in the dining facilities. Anyone who violates appropriate behavioral guidelines is subject to disciplinary action. |
