Biography: Music/Sound. Composer and designer of multimedia installations. B.A., Harvard University; M.A., Columbia University. Compositions include Long Throw (Cunningham Dance Company commission, 2007); My Dear Siegfried (2005); Useful Information (2004); Leapday Night (1988); Interspecies Smalltalk (1984); On the Other Ocean (1977); Homemade Synthesizer Music with Sliding Pitches (1972). Installations include Pen Light and View Finder (2002). Works presented nationally and internationally; sound installations exhibited at Whitney Museum of American Art; Museum of Contemporary Art, Chicago; La Villette Science and Technology Museum, Paris; among others. Has taught at Mills, CalArts, TU Berlin and other colleges. Recipient, National Endowment for the Arts grants for music composition (1977, 1980), visual arts (1983), and interarts (1986); Japan U.S. Friendship Commission residency (1987 88); DAAD fellowship (Berlin, 1988 89); John Cage Award from the Foundation for Contemporary Arts (2005).Contact:
