Frank Cioffi

Biography: Frank Cioffi (B.A., Northwestern University; M.A., Ph.D., Indiana University) was born in Brooklyn and grew up in New York State. He has a B.A. from Northwestern and an M.A. and Ph.D. from Indiana University. He has taught at Eastern New Mexico University, the University of Gda?sk (Poland), Central Washington University, Princeton University, Scripps College, and the City University of New York (CUNY). He is currently a Professor of English at CUNY. He is the author of Formula Fiction: An Anatomy of American Science Fiction, 1930-1940 (Greenwood Press) and of The Imaginative Argument: A Practical Manifesto for Writers (Princeton University Press). His newest book, One Day in the Life of the English Language: A Microcosmic Usage Handbook, is forthcoming from Princeton in 2015. He has also published poetry and scholarly articles, and he has had a play produced. He has been working at Bard College since 2003. He is married and lives in New Jersey.Contact:
