Biography:
Madhu Kaza (B.A., University of Michigan; M.Phil., M.F.A., Ph.D. candidate New York University) is a writer, translator, artist and educator based in New York City. She received an M.Phil. in Comparative Literature and an M.F.A. in Creative Writing, both from New York University. Her performance art work on the theme of "hospitality" has been produced in New York, Minnesota, Baltimore and Boston at sites including Here Arts Center, Intermedia Arts, the Bronx Museum of Arts and Proteus Gowanus. She has published translations of poetry from Spanish and a collection of short stories by the writer Volga from Telugu. She teaches at New York University and has taught in the Language and Thinking Program at Annandale-on-Hudson and for the Bard Prison Initiative. She is a co-director of Witness Tree, a literary arts organization dedicated to revealing the liberatory force of literature and creative expression in diverse communities.Contact:
