A Continuous Charity: Our goal is to promote the spiritual and intellectual development of Muslims throughout North America by providing interest-free loans for higher education. By doing this, we hope to bring about a generation of graduates that will have a strong Muslim identity and be well-versed in their fields, using both for the benefit of mankind.
Islamic Medical Association of North America (IMANA): Scholarship Program Details
In the application process for health professions, individuals who are non-US citizens but hold permanent residency in the US (green card holders) are generally treated similarly to US citizens. However, opportunities for medical education in the US are less accessible for international applicants, encompassing non-US citizens and those without permanent residency. Although some medical schools entertain applications from international students, the annual admission quotas are typically limited, with a higher likelihood of acceptance in private health professions schools.
A significant number of American students finance their medical education, at least partially, through government loans. Unfortunately, US government loans are not accessible to international students lacking permanent residency. Consequently, many medical schools stipulate that international students must substantiate their capacity to independently fund their medical education. This may entail demonstrating sufficient funds in an escrow account before enrollment in certain instances.
The Knight-Hennessy Scholars program will annually identify a group of up to 100 high-achieving students from around the world with demonstrated leadership and civic commitment to receive full funding to pursue a wide-ranging graduate education at Stanford, with the goal of developing a new generation of global leaders. The Knight-Hennessy Scholars is the largest fully endowed scholars program in the world.
