Open Rank Professor (Tenure-Track)- African History

The successful candidate will have rigorous primary research, interdisciplinarity, and innovative approaches to the geographical and historiographic understanding of Africa. Teaching responsibilities will encompass survey, thematic, and advanced courses in history contributing to a vibrant, interdisciplinary curriculum. The position includes teaching in Bard’s First-Year Seminar, an interdisciplinary introduction to humanistic inquiry pursued by all incoming students.
The successful candidate will bring enthusiasm and creativity to this course, which typically combines historical texts with readings from a wide range of other disciplines, including literature, religion, and the social sciences.

Compensation: $88,750-$91,500
This salary range reflects the College’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the compensation for the position at the time of the job posting. Salary decisions are dependent on several factors including but not limited to market and organizational considerations, experience, and qualifications of a selected candidate as well as internal and external equity.
