The BGIA Alumni/ae Board presents Advancing Reproductive Justice in a Post-Roe World, a discussion with Elyse Singer (Bard ’10), Philippa Chadwick (Bard ’21), and Maya Aga (Bard ’21).
Nearly one year has passed since the US Supreme Court's ruling in Dobbs v. Jackson Women's Health Organization eliminated the constitutional right to an abortion. Since the ruling was issued, legal restrictions on the procedure have intensified in over a dozen states, significantly impacting the availability and quality of reproductive care throughout the country. What is being done to advance reproductive justice in this new reality, and why does it matter? What does the Dobbs ruling and subsequent legal battles over reproductive healthcare say about the state of democracy in the US and the struggle for gender equality? This conversation will be held on Zoom with an in person networking reception at the BGIA NYC office to follow.
