Bard College’s inaugural Democracy Day starts out with a morning panel on “The Fight for Democracy, Locally, Nationally, and Globally” that concentrates on threats to democracy in the United States and lessons learned from the rise and fight against authoritarianism across the globe. 11:00 am – 1:00 pm EDT/GMT-4

Also, Bard students and Bard alumni/ae will make presentations about their own civic engagement projects and the impacts they make on their communities.

The afternoon will be filled with action workshops and engagement activities both on and off campus working with various community partners in the region. The day will be capped off with the annual Bard Block Party, featuring local food trucks, a DJ, and a local resource fair with tabling by regional organizations. Students will have the opportunity to choose their workshop/engagement activity closer to the date via a Google Form.
