Workshop
Through a series of talks, discussions, and workshops, the event aims at unpacking the workings of popular feminisms and discussing the heterogeneity of current feminist movements beyond those that remain most visible in mainstream discourses. "New Feminisms, New Questions" draws on the expertise of our campus community and beyond, featuring exciting contributions from alumnae, current faculty as well as international scholars (DeZIM, Goldsmiths and LSE).
PROGRAM
Doors open at 9:30, coffee & tea
10 am – Opening remarks (Agata Lisiak, BCB)
10:15 am – 11:45 am – New Feminisms – impulses from Turkey (Aysuda Kölemen, BCB), Sudan (Fatin Abbas, BCB), Germany (Cassandra Ellerbe, BCB), Egypt (Hana Khalaf, BCB alumna, now FU), Macedonia (Elena Gagovska, BCB alumna, now FU), Poland (Agata Lisiak, BCB), and a discussion
11:50 am – 1 pm – Discussion groups: new feminist manifestos
Participants are expected to read the reading assigned for the discussion group they sign up for. The texts are available online (see the links below).
Group A: Feminism for the 99% (moderator: Lena Kocutar, BCB alumna, now UdK)
Group B: Xenofeminist Manifesto (moderator: Tiara Roxanne, DeZIM)
Group C: Killjoy Manifesto (moderator: Agata Lisiak, BCB)
1 – 2 pm – Lunch break
2 – 3 pm – New Questions: reports from the breakout sessions and discussion
3 – 4:30 pm – Feminism and the politics of resilience, a talk by Angela McRobbie, Goldsmiths & Empowerment for whom, a talk by Sarah Banet-Weiser, LSE, followed by a Q&A
4:30 pm – Closing remarks (Agata Lisiak, BCB)
