Hal Haggard, Physics Program
This year's Nobel Prize in Physics has been awarded to John J. Hopfield and Geoffery E. Hinton “for foundational discoveries and inventions that enable machine learning with artificial neural networks.” Professors Sven Anderson and Hal Haggard will introduce the basics of machine learning and some of the tools from physics that helped to turn this approach into a practical technology. We will touch on the promise and limitations of machine learning emerging today. For more information, call 845-758-6822, or e-mail [email protected].
