Bard College Team Wins Mid-Hudson Chemistry College Bowl Trivia Competition
The Bard College chemistry team won the Mid-Hudson American Chemical Society College Bowl Trivia Competition, competing against regional college and high school AP teams. On the evening of Wednesday, October 26 at Vassar College, Bard chemistry students Monika Dziubelski ’24, Sasha Fraser ’24, Elan Ricarte ’23, and Kris Tulloch ’24 competed against Vassar, Marist, SUNY New Paltz, and others to take home top honors. This was the first time a Bard team had entered the competition. Bard got off to a slow start against Vassar in the final round until Ricarte answered the question, “Who won the 2020 Nobel Prize in Chemistry?”, which went to Emmanuelle Charpentier and Jennifer A. Doudna for their work on CRISPR gene editing. Their research is central to Ricarte’s Senior Project.
