Bard High School Early College in Washington, DC, Receives Wolf Trap Foundation Performing Arts Grant
The Wolf Trap Foundation has awarded grants to eight high schools across metropolitan Washington, DC, to fund music, dance, or theater projects, as part of the foundation’s Grants for High School Performing Arts Teachers Program. BHSEC DC’s winning proposal, “Shades of Sound: Understanding Diversity within Different Musical Settings,” was submitted by teacher John Peasant Jr. Through a series of performances and professional lectures from local artists, students will gain insight into how musicians of color navigate the professional music industry. These conversations will compare and contrast varied musical genres while exploring the rich music community in Washington, DC. Follow their progress via Wolf Trap Virtual Stage.
