Bard Student Radio Station WXBC Recognized in 2024 Spirit of College Radio Awards
Bard College’s radio station WXBC was one of 10 student radio stations internationally to win a 2024 Spirit of College Radio Award. Out of hundreds of participating stations, WXBC joined the other nine winners as an example of the “passion and mission of college radio.” Founded in 1947, WXBC has broadcast experimental radio to the campus and surrounding community for over 70 years.
World College Radio Day is an outreach event by the College Radio Foundation, which aims to raise the profile of college radio stations and encourage students to get involved at their local station. The event’s founder, Dr. Robert Quicke, congratulated the winners: “Many stations produced 24 hours of extraordinary events and programming related to this year’s theme, ‘The Soundtrack of Democracy.’”
