An Indigenous Perspective on Art Therapy
Wednesday, November 1, 2023
Reem-Kayden Center Laszlo Z. Bito '60 Auditorium
4:00 pm – 5:00 pm EDT/GMT-4
Please join us for an intimate conversation with Margaret Behan (Cheyenne/Arapaho), an artist, elder, community knowledge keeper, and member of the International Council of 13 Indigenous Grandmothers. 4:00 pm – 5:00 pm EDT/GMT-4
Margaret will discuss past traumas and her journey as an Indigenous woman that eventually led her to a life changing artist practice with clay medicine that has served as a therapeutic and transformative tool, bringing relief and beauty back into her life.
The International Council of 13 Indigenous Grandmothers is “a global alliance of prayer, education, and healing for our Mother Earth, all Her inhabitants, all the children, and for the next seven generations to come,” who focus primarily on human rights and environmentalism.
Cosponsored by Rethinking Place: Bard-on-Mahicantuck, the Center for Indigenous Studies, the Bard Farm, and the Office of Equity & Inclusion.
