Hailed for her “delicate yet strong vocalism” (Millbrook Independent), Jardena Gertler-Jaffe is a soprano from Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada. Jardena is passionate about finding ways that the vocal arts can challenge, transform, and innovate in the 21st century. Her personal projects merge classical music with issues of social justice and representation within the arts.3:00 pm – 5:00 pm EDT/GMT-4
Her ongoing project Our Singing Bodies, which treats the singer’s body as the site for the negotiation of power and identity, was launched in January 2021. Later this season, Jardena is performing excerpts from György Kurtág’s Kafka Fragments, perform the role of Mrs. Gobineau in Menotti’s The Medium, as well as sing the world premiere of Yiddish songs by Dan Shore and Daniel Schlosberg at the YIVO Institute of Jewish Research.
