Frontispiece Portraits in African American Literature (1834 to 1949)
An exhibition of frontispiece portraits of selected first edition and rare books from the private collection of journalist Alvin Patrick. This exhibit features the portraits of some of the greatest civil rights activists of the 19th and 20th centuries including, Solomon Northup, Frederick Douglass, Phillis Wheatley, and Gwendolyn Brooks.
