News for Bard
Families & Friends

Dear Families,

We were thrilled to welcome over 1000 visitors to campus just a few weeks ago for Family and Alumni/ae Weekend. We had the most beautiful weather for your visit to campus and hope you enjoyed your time here in Annandale. View photos from the fun-filled weekend here.

Tuesday was Election Day and the Campus Center was busy with faculty, staff and students casting their vote. Many of our students partake in Election@Bard, a student-led initiative that helps students register to vote. They organized festivities and a parade in honor of Election Day.

The college is currently celebrating our inaugural First-Generation College Celebration Week from November 6 to November 10. All students, faculty and staff are invited to participate in activities such as speed-friending, brunch, and storytelling. A community dinner at Blithewood will be held tomorrow, Friday at 5:30 pm. Please encourage your student to attend if they can.

One of my favorite things about Bard is experiencing the diverse talents of our student body. Everything from physics posters, sporting events, to the arts. If you are in the area, come visit some of the upcoming jazz ensemble student performances:
December 11–The Spontaneous Composition Ensemble, Blum Hall, 7:30pm
December 12–The Sun Ra Ensemble, Blum Hall, 7:30pm
December 16–The Contemporary Jazz Composer Ensemble, Blum Hall, 8pm

This Sunday, the men’s basketball team faces Columbia University at 6pm at Levien Gymnasium (3030 Broadway, New York, NY 10027). Please come out in your Bard gear to represent and support the Raptors! Get your tickets here for $13. Many of our Bard alumni/ae will be in attendance and everyone will be seated together if you purchase through the above link.

Bardian and proud,

Sasha Boak-Kelly
Senior Director of Development

News from Campus Dining

Effective Monday, October 23, 2023 there will be a 4th late night meal period on weekdays (Monday through Friday).  The breakfast and lunch meal periods will remain the same. Also, the weekend meal periods will remain the same. The meal periods will therefore be:

Monday through Friday
Breakfast: 7:30 am – 10:59 am
Lunch: 11:00 am – 4:59 pm
Dinner: 5:00 pm – 7:59 pm
Late Night: 8:00 pm – midnight

Saturday and Sunday
Brunch: 9:00 am – 2:59 pm
Dinner: 3:00 pm – midnight

Please note:

  • Students will be able to use three swipes a day over the four meal periods on weekdays.
  • Students are limited to one swipe per meal period and so you will select which meal period - breakfast, lunch, dinner or late night -  to use those three swipes.

These changes will lead to more options and flexibility for most students. For example, students on the 19 meal plan can continue to swipe up to 3 meals per day Monday - Friday but now they can choose, on a day-by-day basis, whether those three swipes are for the breakfast, lunch, dinner or late night meal period. (For example, it may make sense based on your Monday schedule to swipe for breakfast, lunch and late night meals and for your Tuesday schedule lunch, dinner and late night swipes may work best for your schedule/needs). The meal swipes on the weekend and will remain unchanged - brunch and dinner on Saturday and Sunday.

We anticipate that some students may wish to make changes to their meal plan selection based on the addition of a late night meal period. As a follow up, the Student Accounts Office will be reaching out to students who are currently not on the 19 meal plan to provide information and a Google Form for students to update their meal plan selection.
