January 2025 Triangle
Issue 179
Dear Alumni/ae,
First month of 2025 is almost over—just slipping in the January Triangle Newsletter by the skin of my teeth! I feel like I've lived a year in the last ten days…. Help! Jane! Stop this crazy thing….
Hope you are well. Happy Chinese New Year.
Snow is on the mountains, the ice boats are on the river, the Bard Curling Club (@bardcurling) is in action and the students are back!
BardWorks 2025 is done and dusted—another great year. Thank you to all the alumni/ae who participated as panelists in this year's program, and to everyone who came out to our BardWorks receptions in NYC and Annandale. The students loved meeting you! Special shout out to our keynote speaker, last year's Bard College Awardee Paul Thompson '93.
Save the Date for BardWorks Receptions in 2026: Annandale January 22nd, NYC January 23rd.
Speaking of dates…the big one—Reunion and Commencement Weekend. Save the date: May 23-25, 2025. Registration opens soon.
5s and 10s, that means YOU! Make your plans, rally your friends, get in touch to get involved. Check out the class lists and other reunion information here.
Speaking of friends…February 14th, Valentine’s Day. We are sharing stories again on social of special Bardian relationships. Roommates, housemates, classmates, life partners, faculty friends? I feel so lucky to be able to still call my professors my friends. Please submit to alumni@bard.edu.
Did you get the latest Bardian magazine in the mail? If you didn't, and would like a hard copy, please let me know. It is hard to keep up with all the news of the amazing things alumni/ae are doing—in your jobs, your lives, your communities, performances, exhibitions, talks. I know Classnotes in the printed Bardian doesn't do you all justice. We are working on a more timely way to share the information, so stay tuned. In the meantime please email us your class notes for the next issue and just a reminder, all Bardians are welcome to post events on Facebook’s Down the Road.
Fingers crossed at Oscar time for Sam Cutler-Kruetz '13 (director), Tara Sheffer '13 (producer), and Blair Maxwell ’13 (costume designer). Their film A Lien is nominated in the best live-action short film category. (Any academy members out there? Hope it makes your list.)
Congratulations Sam, Tara and Blair. This chilling film couldn't be more timely, I encourage you to take the 12 minutes to watch it here.
Thank you to everyone who supported Bard at the end of the year! But it's never too late. The next deadline is the end of our fiscal year: June 30th. (And, don't forget that the Soros Endowment Match is still going on, for any planned gifts or pledges. Deadline for that is December 31st, 2025.)
See you in May, if not before.
Be seeing you,
Jane '89
P.S. If you are coming up this way before May, you might want to try out Hyde Park's newest hotel, The Inn at Bellefield, just opposite the Culinary Institute. They are offering a special guest package to Bardians now through March 31, 2025 and 10% of the proceeds will go towards the Bard College Fund. Yay! Bard guests will enjoy special perks including late check-out and complimentary breakfast. To make a reservation at The Inn at Bellefield using the “Bard College Give Back” program, please use this registration link. Let me know how it goes.

News from the Bard College Alumni/ae Association Board of Governors
Mollie Meikle '03, President
The Board of Governors has been a staple in the alumni/ae community since the 1950s—the Bard Alumni/ae Association was started by former president and emeritus member of the board Arnold Davis ’44. (FYI Arnold is still going strong in Scarsdale, New York, at 101!)
The board’s main goal is to keep you engaged with the College and each other. We do this in a variety of ways:
• We spread the news of Bard to our networks and encourage fellow alumni/ae to get involved with the College.
• We research and nominate alumni/ae to receive Bard College Awards during Commencement and Reunion Weekend.
• We collaborate with fellow alumni/ae on creating and promoting events.
• We work with professors in Annandale to bring alumni/ae back into the classroom to engage with current students.
• We spearhead reunion committees to make sure you have the best time when you return to Annandale in May.
• We work with the Office of Alumni/ae Affairs and the Career Development Office to help fellow Bardians make professional connections and we are part of the BardWorks team.
• We support the College financially at all levels and encourage others to do the same.
The Board of Governors is the leadership of the Alumni/ae Association. You are ALL part of your Bard College Alumni/ae Association. We work for YOU!
