Bard Students Named
Skyline Conference Scholar-Athletes
Bard College announces that 61 student-athletes have qualified as Skyline Conference Scholar-Athletes for the 2007–08 academic year. In order to qualify, student-athletes must achieve a grade point average of 3.30 or higher during the semester in which they compete.
Bard freshman Erica Ball was also named the Skyline Conference Women’s Cross Country Scholar Athlete of the Year. Student-athletes from 17 different conference sports have been named Skyline Conference Scholar-Athletes of the Year in their respective sports. The Scholar-Athlete of the Year is the individual with the highest GPA (minimum 3.40) among First Team All-Conference selections.
The 2007–08 season marks the Skyline Athletic Conference’s 18th year of operation. Formed on May 16, 1989, as a men’s basketball conference, the Skyline Conference now conducts championships in 17 sports – nine for men and eight for women. The mission of the Skyline Conference is to recognize that athletic programs and student-athletes are integral parts of the educational experience, to conduct athletic competitions among members and determine conference champions, and to foster the growth of leadership opportunities for the student-athletes.
