The Fisher Center Presents The Bard Orchestra in Concert, Wednesday October 14
The program includes Edward Elgar’s “Chanson de Matin,” Op. 15, No. 2, and “Chanson de Nuit,” Op. 15, No. 1; Jean Sibelius’s “Valse Triste,” Op. 44, No. 1; Claude Debussy’s Prelude to the Afternoon of a Faun; and Aaron Copland’s Appalachian Spring. Nathan Madsen, music director, will conduct.
Nathan Madsen is beginning his fourth season as music director of the Bard Orchestra, which is gaining a reputation throughout the Hudson Valley for its innovative programming and artistic excellence. Recent guest conducting appearances include performances with the Woodstock Chamber Orchestra, Bard College Conservatory of Music, Da Capo Chamber Players, and Bard Musical Theater Group. This season Madsen will make his New York debut with the New Amsterdam Symphony Orchestra, as well as guest conduct the Southwest Symphony Orchestra in St. George, Utah.
