The Bard College Conservatory of Music Presents the "Conservatory Sundays" Series at the Fisher Center

ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, N.Y.—The Bard College Conservatory of Music presents the “Conservatory Sundays” concert series at The Richard B. Fisher Center for the Performing Arts on February 20, April 3, and May 1, at 3 p.m. Performed by Conservatory students with faculty and special guests, all three concerts in the spring matinee series will be held in the acoustically superb Sosnoff Theater. Proceeds from the Conservatory Sundays series benefit the Scholarship Fund of The Bard College Conservatory of Music. Suggested donations are $20 (orchestra seating) and $15 (parterre/first balcony). The minimum donation for orchestra seating is $5. Seating location for tickets reserved without a donation will be assigned by the Box Office. “Conservatory Sundays: Conservatory Orchestra” starts off the series on Sunday, February 20 at 3 p.m. Conducted by David Alan Miller, guest conductor, the orchestra will be joined by faculty members Ida Kavafian, violin; and Peter Wiley, cello; and guest artist Pei-Yao Wang, piano. The program includes Copland’s Appalachian Suite, Beethoven’s Triple Concerto, and Sibelius’s Symphony No. 1.

The series continues with “Conservatory Sundays: Chamber Music” performed by students and faculty of the Conservatory of Music on Sunday, April 3, at 3 p.m. Strauss’s Sonatina No. 1 for 16 wind instruments (“From the Workshop of an Invalid”) will be performed.

On Sunday, May 1 at 3 p.m., the Conservatory Orchestra performs its third concert in the spring series, conducted by Leon Botstein. The program includes George Tsontakis’s Unforgettable for Two Violins and Orchestra, Joan Tower’s Rapids for Piano and Orchestra, and Dmitri Shostakovich’s Symphony No. 5.

The mission of The Bard College Conservatory of Music is to provide the best possible preparation for a person dedicated to a life immersed in the creation and performance of music.
