Latest Issue of Conjunctions Explores Obsession
ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, N.Y.– Mesmerists and hoarders. Conspiracy theorists and martyrs. Fetishists and addicts. Saints and sinners. Conjunctions:58, Riveted: The Obsession Issue, the latest issue of the innovative literary magazine published by Bard College, explores the idea of obsession and delves deep into the world of fixation, fetishism, addiction, and infatuation. It features groundbreaking fiction from Joyce Carol Oates, Sigrid Nunez, Christopher Sorrentino, Chinelo Okparanta, Jonathan Carroll, Brian Conn, renowned Swiss experimentalist Urs Allemann, and others; as well as new work from poets such as Lyn Hejinian, Robert Fernandez, Elizabeth Robinson, and Sarah Lang.
“In Riveted we have gathered fiction, essays, and poetry that obsess about obsessions, compulsive confessions, obsessive compulsions,” writes Conjunctions editor, novelist, and Bard literature professor Bradford Morrow. “From psychosomatic paralysis to the end of days, from trauma to guilt, from vengeance to atonement—whatever the focus of the fixation, each of the astonishing contributions to this special issue has a heart that beats to one rhythm, a soul seared by a single burning need, an eye that holds to one vision.”
In addition to the writers mentioned above, Riveted also features new work from Martine Bellen, Gabriel Blackwell, Karen Donovan, Julia Elliot, Bernadette Esposito, Ryan Flaherty, Nicholas Grider, Joanna Howard, Karen Lepri, Fiona Maazel, Shena McAuliffe, Andrew Mossin, Stephen O’Connor, Ryan Ruby, Michael Sheehan, and Adam Weinstein.
Conjunctions is edited by Bradford Morrow and published twice yearly by Bard College.
