Celebrated Author and Bard College Professor Joseph O’Neill To Give Reading At Bard College on Monday, September 15
ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, N.Y.—On Monday, September 15, Joseph O'Neill, Bard’s Distinguished Visiting Professor of Written Arts and the author of the PEN/Faulkner Award–winning Netherland, will read from his new novel, The Dog. Publishers Weekly describes The Dog as “Pitch-perfect prose . . . Clever, witty, and profoundly insightful, this is a beautifully crafted narrative about a man undone by a soulless society.” The reading, presented by the Written Arts Program, takes place at 6 p.m. in Weis Cinema in the Bertelsmann Campus Center. It is free and open to the public; no tickets or reservations are required. The reading will be introduced by Mary Caponegro, Richard B. Fisher Family Professor in Literature and Writing and codirector, Written Arts Program, and followed by Q&A and book signing, with book sales by Oblong Books & Music.
JOSEPH O’NEILL is the author of the novels Netherland, which won the PEN/Faulkner Award for Fiction and the Kerry Group Irish Fiction Award; This Is the Life; and The Breezes, along with a family history, Blood-Dark Track. His most recent novel, The Dog, has just been published by Pantheon Books.
