Bard College Presents Pop-Up Garden Open Houses at Montgomery Place and Blithewood Gardens
ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, N.Y.—In celebration of National Public Garden Week, the Bard Arboretum is hosting two open house garden tours. Bard College: The Montgomery Place Campus Gardens Open House takes place on Saturday, May 11 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., with a free garden tour at noon. The Blithewood Garden Open House will be held on Friday, May 17 from 1 to 4 p.m. Visitors are invited to explore the grounds and ask questions about their own gardens, and there will be activities geared for children and free giveaways. Presented by the Bard Arboretum, the events are free and no reservations are required. This tour allows the visitor to dial 845-752-BLWD (2593) and learn about Blithewood’s history, people, house and gardens, national significance, and acquisition timeline while exploring the grounds of the magnificent Hudson Valley estate.
National Public Gardens Day was created in 2009 by the American Public Gardens Association, a leading professional organization in the field of public horticulture. The goal was to expand local and national awareness of the importance of building gardens committed to community enrichment and engagement, as well as to sustainable practices and environmental responsibility. Beginning this year, the event has expanded to a full week, May 13-19.
