BARD COLLEGE ARTS-IN-EDUCATION PROGRAM OFFERS "FIGURE DRAWING FOR YOUNG ADULTS" FROM JUNE 12 TO JULY 12
ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, N.Y.- Bard College Arts-in-Education presents "Figure Drawing for Young Adults" from Tuesday, June 12, through Thursday, July 12. The class for young people from 14 to 18 years old will meet biweekly on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. The fee is $280, and minimal supplies must be purchased.
Cheryl Wheat, an instructor in the Bard Continuing Studies Program, will teach the course, which is designed both for beginners who wish to gain a strong foundation in drawing and for more experienced artists who want to develop further their knowledge and skills. Students will become acquainted with a range of essential techniques, including charcoal, graphite, chalk, ink, and wash, through class exercises, demonstrations, and lively lectures by the instructor, all conducted in a relaxed and encouraging atmosphere.
Wheat will cover human anatomy and proportion (with special attention to drawing the head), two- and three-dimensional construction ideas, the theory of light and shadow, modeling and shading, cross hatching, cast drawing, and drapery. Students will draw from live models.
For further information, call Cheryl Wheat at 845-398-3608.
