ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, N.Y.-The music program at Bard College presents a concert on Wednesday, October 24, at 8:00 p.m. in Olin Hall featuring solo and duo performances by music program faculty. The program, free and open to the public, "is a parade of stars from Bard's music program in a concert of diverse, mostly 20th-century classical music and jazz," according to composer and conductor Joan Tower, chair of the music program at Bard.
Performers include Thurman Barker, Gregory Dinger, Peter Einhorn, John Esposito, Joan Fuerstman, Erica Lindsay, Bari Mort, Kyle Pfortmiller, Patricia Spencer, Joan Tower, and Colorado Quartet members Julie Rosenfeld and Deborah Redding.
The program includes flutist Spencer and pianist Mort performing Lukas Foss's Three American Pieces; jazz drummer Barker performing his composition "Overtime"; jazz saxophonist Lindsay and jazz guitarist Einhorn in two short duets; baritone Pfortmiller accompanied by pianist Mort performing Rossini's "Largo al factotum" from Il Barbiere di Siviglia and Baubil's and Schoenberg's "Stars" from Les Miserables; classical guitarist Dinger performing Nikita Koshkin's "Usher" Waltz, Op. 29; mezzo-soprano Fuerstman and pianist Mort performing Ravel's Deux Melodies Hebriques; pianist Tower and violinist Rosenfeld performing Messiaen's Louange á L'Immortalité de Jésus; and violinists Rosenfeld and Redding performing Duets by Bela Bartók.
