"CURATORIAL EDUCATION AND THE CONTEMPORARY ARTS," A COLLOQUIUM ORGANIZED BY THE CENTER FOR CURATORIAL STUDIES AT BARD COLLEGE, TO BE HELD OCTOBER 25 AND 26 Colloquium Features Sessions with International Curators
ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, N.Y.-The Center for Curatorial Studies at Bard College has organized a two-day colloquium, "Curatorial Education and the Contemporary Arts." The sessions are open to the public, beginning on Friday, October 25, through Saturday, October 26, and will be held in the Weis Cinema of the Bertelsmann Campus Center
Topics of the colloquium will include the professional possibilities for curators of contemporary art in Europe, particularly Central and Eastern Europe, and the models and prospects, in those regions, for educational programs for curators of contemporary art. Particular topics will include the training of curators in art academies and the situation of women curators in the contemporary arts.
Invited participants include Saskia Bos (De Appel, Amsterdam), Branislav Dimitrijevic (Centre for Contemporary Arts, Belgrade), Andrea Fraser (artist, New York), Maria Hlavajova (BAK, Utrecht), Sasa Glavan (Center for Contemporary Arts, Ljubljana), Malgorzata Lisiewicz (Centre for Contemporary Art "Laznia," Gdansk), and Stephan Schmidt-Wulffen (Akademie der Bildende Künste, Vienna), among others.
