BARD COLLEGE MUSIC PROGRAM PRESENTS SIX SPRING CONCERTS IN APRIL AND MAY Programs feature the Bard College Electronic Music and Jazz Ensembles, Community Chorus and Orchestra, and Chamber Singers, plus the Da Capo Chamber Players and Colorado Quartet
ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, N.Y.—The Bard College Music Program presents a series of six concerts in April and May that are free and open to the public.
The Bard College Electronic Music Ensemble, under the direction of Brenda Hutchinson, visiting associate professor of music at Bard, will perform on Tuesday, April 29, at 8:00 p.m. in Blum Hall.
The Bard College Community Chorus, conducted by James Bagwell, director of choral music and an assistant professor of music at Bard, will perform works by Haydn, Porpora, and Hassler, on Friday, May 2, at 7:00 p.m. in Olin Hall.
The Bard College Chamber Singers, also conducted by Bagwell, will offer 20th-century choral favorites, including works by Poulenc, Hindemith, Stravinsky, and Bartók on Tuesday, May 6, at 8:00 p.m. in Olin Hall.
The Bard College Community Orchestra, conducted by Maestro Bagwell, will perform works by Haydn and Rossini featuring student soloists on Tuesday, May 13, at 8:00 p.m. in Olin Hall.
The Da Capo Chamber Players and the Colorado Quartet, artists in residence at the College, will offer an evening of new compositions and orchestrations by Bard composers. Joan Tower, Asher B. Edelman Professor of Music at Bard, coordinates the program on Wednesday, May 14, at 7:30 p.m. in Bard Hall.
The Bard College Jazz Ensemble and the student percussion ensemble, both under the direction of Thurman Barker, assistant professor of music at Bard, will perform on Thursday, May 15, at 8:00 p.m. in Olin Hall.
