LEGENDARY AMERICAN CARTOONIST GAHAN WILSON TO SPEAK AND PERFORM AT BARD COLLEGE ON MONDAY, APRIL 11
ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, N.Y.— On Monday, April 11, Bard College will host renowned American cartoonist, illustrator, writer, and critic Gahan Wilson, whose cartoons appear regularly in the New Yorker and Playboy, among other periodicals. In a rare public improvisational performance, Wilson will create a graphic cartoon fiction strip responding to audience interaction. He will be introduced by novelist and Bard literature Professor Bradford Morrow. The reading, which is being presented as part of Morrow's innovative course on contemporary fiction, is free and open to the public and takes place at 2:30 p.m. in Weis Cinema in the Bertelsmann Campus Center. Wilson’s work first appeared in Amazing Stories in 1954, but he became nationally known through art in magazines including Colliers, Playboy, the New Yorker, and National Lampoon. His most recent books include The Best of Gahan Wilson, Gahan Wilson’s Monster’s Party, and Gahan Wilson Gravedigger’s Party. Among other books, he is also the author of Gahan Wilson's America, Still Weird, and Even Weirder. He has written and illustrated several children’s books, including The Bang Bang Family and Harry the Fat Bear Spy. He is also an accomplished short story and mystery writer with Eddy Deco’s Last Caper: An Illustrated Mystery, Everybody’s Favorite Duck, and The Cleft and Other Odd Tales.
