THE BARD MUSIC PROGRAM PRESENTS A CHORAL CONCERT THIS DECEMBER AT THE RICHARD B. FISHER CENTER FOR THE PERFORMING ARTS AT BARD COLLEGE
December 6 Concert Features the Bard College Symphonic (Community) Chorus and Chamber Singers
ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, N.Y.—The Bard Music Program presents a concert, on Wednesday, December 6, at 8:00 p.m. in the Sosnoff Theater of the The Richard B. Fisher Center for the Performing Arts at Bard College. Admission is $5, free for children 12 and under.
The Bard College Chamber Singers and Symphonic (Community) Chorus, under the direction of Sharon Bjorndal, visiting instructor of music at Bard, will perform selections from Benjamin Britten’s A Ceremony of Carols, Randall Thompson’s “The Peaceable Kingdom,” and Ottorino Respighi’s “Lauda per la Natività del Signore,” Wednesday, December 6. Soloists for this event are soprano Kimberly Kahan, mezzo-soprano Teresa Buchholz, and tenor Rufus Müller.
“It is a pleasure to work with the Chamber Singers and Symphonic (Community) Chorus in preparation for this concert at the Fisher Center,” says Bjorndal. “This program features unique holiday selections. Enjoy this rare opportunity to hear Respighi's glorious cantata: ‘Laud to the Nativity.’”
Sharon Bjorndal is a former assistant chorus master for New York City Opera. Having served as a guest chorus master with the Opera Company of Philadelphia and the Manhattan School of Music, she has prepared the choruses for the Bard SummerScape Festival operas since 2002. A graduate of the Oberlin Conservatory of Music and Manhattan School of Music, Bjorndal is a member of the Bard College music faculty and maintains an active career as a collaborative pianist and conductor.
