Review: Closer to Life: Drawings and Works on Paper from the Marieluise Hessel Collection at Bard College
Closer to Life roughly follows the fascinating history of the life of Marieluise Hessel, whose 1992 bequest founded the Center for Curatorial Studies (CCS), the first graduate school for curators in North America. One room of the exhibition focuses on Mexican art, one on German work, and one on New York artists. One gallery is based on the display of drawings in Hessel’s study. The exhibition marks the 30th anniversary of CCS.
