Biography:

M.A., University of Chicago; studied at Barnes Foundation, Stanford University, University of Pennsylvania. Guggenheim Fellowship (1973–74), National Endowment for the Arts Fellowship (1975), Pollock-Krasner Foundation Grant (1995). Numerous solo shows include 80th birthday exhibition, Alex Meyerovich Gallery, San Francisco (2008); 50-year retrospective, Old Print Gallery, New York (2007); de Saisset Museum at Santa Clara University, California (2004); Stanford University Libraries (2001); National Museum of Art, Washington, D.C. (1996); 23-year retrospective, Bard College (1988). Represented in 24 public collections including Metropolitan Museum of Art; Whitney Museum of American Art; Library of Congress, National Collection; Smithsonian Institution; Philadelphia Museum of Art; Stanford University.
